Q: You’ve founded 44 companies and had 1,200 first dates. How do those two things possibly connect?
More than you’d expect. In both cases, you’re sitting across from someone trying to figure out if this is the right fit — and so are you. It means you stop asking “who’s hiring?” and start asking “who needs what I do best?” A CEO doesn’t depend on one client. They build a portfolio. Q: After 33,000 relationships, what’s the single most common mistake you’ve watched people make — in business and in love?
They choose the path that looks safe over the path that is most desired — and then spend years wondering why they feel vaguely dissatisfied with a life that looks perfectly fine from the outside. In business, it shows up as founders who build the company their investors want instead of the one they believe in. In love, it shows up as people who settle for compatible instead of holding out for aligned. The gap between safe and desired is where most of the quiet suffering lives.
